Your Jetset Essentials
Being a gentleman traveler can have its challenges…
Let us set the scene. You’ve got a big meeting tomorrow in Tucson, followed by dinner plans in LA, and you’re facing the following options: pack a carry-on and risk looking disheveled or otherwise misdressed. Or check a bag and miss your first martini. Neither sounds ideal.
Luckily for you, we’ve got a few tricks to navigating such packing conundrums…
A Gray Blazer: Because a gray blazer, like this one from Steven Alan, goes with anything. Dress it up with trousers or down with jeans; either way, it won’t look out of place.
A Merino Sweater: You’ll need something to stave off that frigid airline chill, like this extra-fine V-neck from Uniqlo. Plus, it can be a perfect under-the-blazer layer, should you be headed to cooler climes.
A Wrinkle-Free Dress Shirt: Long flights have a way of making fine shirts look like used tissues. Avoid the embarrassment with crease-resistant selections like this Traveller Shirt by Thomas Pink.
Non-Iron Pants: The same goes for pants, and Banana Republic’s got you covered on that front. Which is handy, because last we checked, the TSA didn’t take kindly to carrying on steamers.
A Pair of Loafers: Avoid holding up the line at security by forsaking laces and going for something a bit more slip-on. Quoddy’s True Penny will do the trick, and they’re handsome enough for all post-flight activities.
A Solid Weekender: Because you’ve got to put it all somewhere, don’t you? And this Filson Twill Carry-On is as good of a choice as any.
