The Golden Age
After the recent turbulence, we’re struggling to adjust to a post-Maybach world. The early signs suggest it’s going to be pretty trill.
My Fashion Life is reporting a 243% jump in jewelry listings on eBay as the price of gold climbs past $1000 an ounce.
In other words, that chain just got 32% gaudier.
The last gold peak was in the 1980s, the heyday of style gurus like Run-D.M.C. and Rakim, so if history is any guide, we’re about to see a lot more gold chains. eBay is only the beginning. By year’s end, will we see Tom Ford rocking gold teeth while George Clooney sports a Ghostface-style eagle bracelet?
Better get them now, while the market’s still fresh.
