But as of late, we’ve noticed a rash of new joint projects emerge, connecting innovative designers with our favorite menswear shops across the country. And we certainly won’t say we’ve hated it. So to honor this newfound camaraderie, we’ve taken a moment to round up the handsomest final products of their collaborative efforts.
Just a few days after we crowned Hong Kong as having Asia’s best suits, Tokyo gets in on the action. This pic from Colonial Goods shows the United Arrows braintrust showing off their soft-shouldered swagger in monochrome—and it’s a sight to behold. The race is on, gentlemen.
File this one under “one more for the road.”
On the heels of our layering guide to end all layering guides, we’ve come across another example of how it looks when it’s done right.
The look comes from United Arrows, effortlessly mixing a tartan scarf, cableknit sweater and densely graphic button-up. Even the overcoat’s colorful—at least by overcoat standards. If we manage to look this stylish once fall starts up in earnest, we’ll consider it a job well done.
Luckily, Lacoste is making a go of it. These spread-collared polos came about thanks to a collab with Japan’s United Arrows, who slimmed down the silhouette and curved out the collar for something that looks a lot more current than most of the alligator’s usual gear. (Apparently John Waters was onto something.)
Of course, we’ll give extra points to the first polo that gives us a club collar…but we’re not holding our breath.

We always just kind of took it for granted that king-of-camp John Waters only ever wears vintage threads. That’s what the writer/director’s skinny suits and ties always looked like to us, and it seemed to match his retro persona perfectly.
