Power Ranking Robert De Niro’s On-Screen Style

MCDGOTW EC001

Restaurateur, philanthropist, master of the skeptical scowl: Bobby De Niro’s passions go well beyond the silver screen.

But with the first reels of this year’s installment of the Tribeca Film Festival rolling tomorrow night—an event that owes the esteemed actor no small debt of gratitude—we’ve found ourselves considering his more theatrical endeavors. And, of course, the sartorial stylings that have gone with them.

Without further ado, let us present our ranking of Robert De Niro’s finest moments in on-screen style, after the jump...»

André 3000. André Benjamin. Possum Jenkins.

The man has gone by many names and worn many hats over the years (both figuratively and literally). And now that he’s reuniting with his better rap half to kick off Outkast’s long-awaited reunion tour this weekend at Coachella, we though it prudent to take an analytical eye to the man who has served as the group’s stylistic compass over the past 20 years (yes, really), six albums and countless suspenders.

We map the spectacularly singular style arc of the one and only André 3000.»

The 10 Most Stylish Golfers of All Time

There’s a special place in our heart for the most stylish trophy in sports: the Masters Tournament green jacket.

But when the players take to the course for the championship rounds this weekend, don’t expect an entirely dapper affair. Nowadays you’ll see more neon tech fabrics, white belts and oversize logos than slim-cut polos and pressed slacks. Which is a shame.

So we’re taking a longing look back at the 10 most stylish golfers of all time...»

It’s been a while since we checked in on Chubbies—as you may recall, we penned the definitive red, yellow, green guide to when it’s okay to wear their precariously short shorts.

And now they’re back with Act Two: Chubbies Sport, a dueling collection of modern gym shorts and vintage-inspired ones, is launching today. All of the shorts still measure in at the label’s dubiously thigh-bearing inseam of 5.5 inches which means, for the most part, the rules we outlined before stay the same—but this time you can trade the penny loafers for sneakers.

Before you read up on the rules, take a closer look at the new, sportier Chubbies...»

Maybe you’ve been looking for something to wear to your rockabilly fan club, or the right shirt for taking the wheel of your Porsche 356 Super Speedster, or (perhaps more likely) you can just appreciate one-of-a-kind pieces of legendary clothing.

Whatever the case, dust off your blue suede shoes for Phoenix Project, a new company from the folks behind Bench & Loom. They’ve teamed up with film studios, music labels and museum curators—and just about anyone else with an authority on the cool of yesteryear—to resurrect the wares from history’s most stylish icons.

Everything is limited-run and hand-numbered, and once they’re gone, they’re gone. But don’t worry, they’ll have new collections up for consideration every six to eight weeks (oh yeah, you’ll get to vote on what actually makes it to production).

Check out the best of the past, after the jump.»

Redford and Newman. Clooney and Pitt. Sinatra and the entire Rat Pack.

The bond between two incredibly stylish men is a special one—and, more importantly, makes for some especially handsome photo ops. But like all great romances, some were fleeting, others stood the test of time and at least one ended in litigation. So we’re taking a look back at the proud history of menswear style icons hanging out with one another.

Because you’re only as stylish as the company you keep...»

Six Lessons in Style from Season 1 of Masters of Sex

1216mastersHEADER

Last night, Showtime’s acclaimed new drama, Masters of Sex, concluded its inaugural season.

Yes, the first run definitely had its fair share of, ahem, less-than-clothed moments.

But when the characters were fully clad, it was an undeniably dapper production, providing a thorough tutorial in bow ties, Eisenhower-era business casual and gentlemanly accoutrements. And it’s worth some further examination, minus the distraction of bare breasts. (Spoiler alert.)

So, without further ado, six lessons in style from this season of Masters of Sex, after the jump...»

What Your Travel Style Says About You

  • Najib Benouar

As you’ll recall, we spent a whole week preparing you for your holiday travel in style.

But now that you’ll actually be embarking upon your travel, it’s time to get real. So we’ve put together this handy guide on what exactly your travel style is projecting to the rest of the world—and, more specifically, where people might assume you’re jetting off to (needless to say, wearing your neck pillow in the terminal isn’t going to be looked upon kindly).

Where you’re going, according to your travel style...»
