Cash Is King and the Money Clip Is His Scepter

  • Najib Benouar

A post yesterday on Die, Workwear—which waxed rhapsodic about the author’s beloved money clip—had us lamenting the decline of carrying cash in general.

Sure, it’s nice to know that weekly trips to the bank are no longer necessary, but if you peek into most guys’ wallets nowadays, you’re bound to find a lot of plastic and more paper in receipt form than bill form. It’s not often you’ll find even a bill, let alone enough bills to necessitate an entirely separate money clip.

And that’s a shame. As far as grace notes go, a little extra pewter tucked into your pocket has the same effect as the paisley lining of your favorite coat—a little secret that only you can truly enjoy.

Just as long as you’re not flashing it around.

Under the Table

We love the futuristic look as much as the next guy—probably a good deal more, actually—but we have to draw the line. And we draw it at a substance called acrylic, also known as plexiglass.

This table from Spectrum West is probably astonishingly easy to clean, but at some point you’re going to want to own something that doesn’t smell like Windex. It’s great if you’re making a movie about a dystopic future, but anyone who has it in their living room is probably way too intense to interact with.

Also, it costs $3000.
