June is in full bloom, and it’s got us pining to get out of town for a long weekend. Which got us thinking: probably smart to have a little something on hand, just in case the opportunity for a quick jaunt presents itself.
Last fall, we were duly impressed by UGG Australia’s continued efforts to step up their men’s shoe game—teaming up with a champ like Tom Brady didn’t hurt. And now they’re back with their newest offering for spring:
Our love for the chukka in spring is no secret—perhaps it’s their versatility with or without socks—and the Kaldwell is a shining example of spring chukka excellence. It’s the sort of shoe that’ll take you from post-work drinks to a beach weekend without having to worry about your choice in footwear. Our favorite touch is the seersucker lining, which makes them even more barefoot compliant.
The chukka’s already one of the more grit-resistant shoes out there (hence its affinity with the sandproof desert boot), but it can always get more impenetrable. Case in point: this seamless chukka from Band of Outsiders. It’s a long-lost cousin to the Chelsea boot, placing the emphasis on the handsome suede and away from anything so flashy as laces. You can also pick up a pair in raw wool if you’re feeling industrial; just try to keep it out of the rain.
The master cobblers at Leffot have finally succumbed to the pull of summer sale season and started discounting their stock. That means, among other things, you can get these navy suede chukkas for under $400, and a pair of white deerskin captoes for $325. Gentlemen, commence perusing.
Blackbird just launched the online part of their seasonal warehouse sale, and it makes for pretty good browsing. For starters, these gray chukkas manage to match the season just about perfectly. We’d also direct you to the in-houseties, going for around $30 a pop, and this denim jacket… but really, you’ll want to explore for yourself.
