Ovadia Arrives

Ovadia & Sons’ winter collection has been building buzz all year in menswear circles, but they’ve been slow arriving on e-commerce.

C’H’C’M’ has the best selection so far—seven items including a pair of gingham oxfords and winter-ready pants. It’s still just a taste, but it’s a kind of well-considered minimalism that you’ll be seeing a lot more of as the year rolls on.

For instance, if you take a closer look at the shawl-collared sweater, you’ll notice some unusually deep ribbing. That means it’ll conform to your body better, and a lighter garment will hold in a lot more warm air. It’s the kind of detail that has to be felt to be appreciated… but it does explain where all that buzz is coming from.

Turtleneck for Hire

Here’s a revise to that tube scarf we were kicking around previously. Instead of floppy rolls, this Nor’easter scarf gives you a single circle of thick knit wool that’s too stiff to flop over. The result is something like a floating turtleneck. It won’t plug up the gap between your lapels, but if you’re looking to keep the back of your neck warm in the strangest way possible, this is your play.

The New Sweatpant

The sins of sweatpants are legion, but we’d nail it down to one precise factor: the fit. Or, to be even more precise, the complete absence of it. Even the trimmest pair tends to hang from the waist like a pair of unusually puffy curtains. The hate is well-earned but with mistakes like those, it shouldn’t too hard to do better, right?

Fil Melange is doing its best. These “Vonnegut” pants look like jeans from afar, but look closer and you’ll see what the description tactfully labels as “sweatshirt material.” Which is to say, yes, they’re sweatpants—but please don’t call them that.

They look pretty handsome, to be honest, and we don’t doubt they’d be the most comfortable pants in our closet. Still…this can’t help but feel like a supervillain emerging from a long prison stay. They’re reformed, we swear!

What’s the matter? Don’t you trust them?
