Every Monday morning from here on out—or at least until the mid-season break—the minds behind Kempt are sharing our thoughts on everything from the menswear to the Ritz crackers in last night’s episode of Mad Men.

Oh, the irony. “I think it’s hilarious that Bert Cooper, a guy who has done approximately jack shit except meditate in his office, is always telling people to ‘get back to work.’ And let’s not forget Pete Campbell’s induction into the Mile High Club and his immediate slide back into New York Pete when he berates Trudy for her immoral lifestyle.” —A.P.B.

Biggest takeaway from this episode. “John Slattery’s pecs. Impressive.” —S.D.

051914_Mad-Men-Season-7-Don-PeggyOkay, it’s nice to see Don and Peggy on good terms again. “Even dancing to Sinatra. I look forward to a Don-Peggy-Betty-Henry foursome in an episode next year. (Yes, Weiner, go ahead, you can take that idea.)” —S.D.

Very familiar. “The strategy they finally came up with for Burger Chef reminded me of the old slogan for Olive Garden: when you’re here, you’re family.” —S.D.

Same. “I totally thought of Olive Garden when I heard the pitch. I don’t know if Mad Men has ever felt as campy as that ending featuring grown-ups father-daughter dancing and a we’re-burger-family pan out. Except for those confounding Lincoln commercials where they play weirdly upbeat sitcom-y music over clips of the car and totally out-of-context zingers—including Joan’s ‘Surprise!’ airplane moment.” —N.B.

A curse of the madras blazer? “Let’s keep an eye on this unsettling new development.” —N.B.

I think Stan’s beard reached critical mass in this episode. “Any longer, he’s going to be approaching true Grizzly Adams status.” —J.W.

Adam’s Fun Fact of the Night. “Burger Chef was the first fast food restaurant to feature a ‘works bar’ where customers could fix their burgers with toppings however they saw fit. Think about that the next time you’re at a Fudruckers…” —A.W.
