Debonair designer Zac Posen has been on the verge of snagging many a MOTH before now, only to be usurped at the last moment by some slightly more splendiferous fellow. Truth be told, there were some very close calls where we ended up handing the prize to a less consistently natty rival, simply because we knew there’d never be a shortage of stylish Zac sightings. The man seems to be at every A-list event on the social calendar, and he’s usually the life of the party.

Such was the case the other night at the New Yorkers for Children Spring Gala hosted by Missoni at the Mandarin Oriental. Posen easily outclassed the competition in a perfect shawl collar tuxedo with a matching waistcoat, gleaming white shirt and quintessential black bowtie all by that Lord of the MOTHs Tom Ford.

He didn’t stop there, however, adding to the mix a purple flower in his lapel, a black-and-white checked scarf fashioned from a piece of fabric he found in Bali, a classic Cartier tank watch, and an alluring heiress for arm candy—the charming Maccapani Missoni.
