They Grow Up So Quickly
Crosby Street, just below Houston, is known to locals for its easy-to-miss Indian deli, Lahore, as well as one of NY’s most fashion forward specialty stores for men, Atelier New York. Karlo Steel and Constantin von Haeften opened Atelier New York (originally A.) in September, 2002 as a duel gender boutique but dropped women’s within a year to focus on men’s wear.
Distinctive for its selection of Japanese and European brands in the vein of Rick Owens, Ann Demeulemeester, and Carol Christian Poell, the store boasts a strict color palette of black, concrete, graphite, and grey. To celebrate five years of making fashion dreams come true, Atelier New York has assembled an online retrospective as it prepares for new, larger digs in January, 2008. In addition to tops, bottoms, knits, and coats, it’s a great place to find anything from shoes, jewelry, books, bags, belts, and much more, plenty of which can be had for 40% discount.
