Now that we’re gravitating towards the warm and fuzzy end of our wardrobe, it’s interesting to see just how many ways there are to twist the basic cardigan. Here’s one we hadn’t thought of: get rid of the buttons.
This Rancher cardigan does just that, and ends up in the drapey futuristic sweet spot that Japanese labels inhabit so well. Even more impressive, it does it with one of the bête noir fabrics of the current moment: mohair. The result is a lazy Sunday sweater with one foot in the avant garde, which is a pretty cool idea.
Of course, you can’t close the front, so there’s an upper limit to the coziness…but it’s a small price to pay.
