Three Reasons to be Excited for Ovadia & Sons in 2012
Ovadia & Sons came onto the scene with quite a splash last year, so they could be forgiven for playing it safe for a season or two. But judging from what we saw at the Capsule show yesterday, they’re still swinging for the fences. The fall/winter lookbook will be arriving later this week to prove it, but first, we’ve got three pitch-perfect details that should convince you to get excited in advance. First, a certain 70-year-old Italian sneaker…
The Italian Sneaker
This shoe was made for the Italian military circa 1942, and come August, Ovadia’s going to be trotting out replica versions. Shimon & Ariel actuall tracked down the original factory, so all the detailing is exactly the same as it was 70 years ago—give or take a little leather on the ankle. Streetwear brands should watch their backs.
Ovadia’s always been strong on the details, from fabrics to fasteners, but the standout in this crop was the buttons. We found this custom job on the cuff of their new overcoat, with a thick profile, a ragged edge and the kind of offhand idiosyncrasy that style is made of. Nearly every item has some kind of grace note like this, but the chunky overcoat button was our favorite.

So handsome, you may as well start working from home.
