The Moleskin Peacoat and Other Good Ideas from Todd Snyder

We’ve been gushing about Todd Snyder’s fall/winter gear since February, but this morning we finally got a chance to see it up close. There’s a lot to like, starting with this peacoat made from oiled moleskin instead of the usual nautical wool. But that’s just the beginning…

This was the big story from Snyder’s Fashion Week show, a fingertip-length shearling that reminds us of Shackleton in the best possible way. What you might not have seen in the show: the fishtail cut on the back, usually only seen in white tie apparel.

This rack of suits comes from the collaboration with the storied tailors at Southwick. To hear Snyder tell it, the jackets have some of the softest shoulders Southwick’s ever made.

The logo’s not bad either.

…and they know their way around a wool tie.

Our favorite piece of the day was this liner jacket, a military spin on the Italian blouson.
Sadly, none of this will make it to stores until August, but it should be worth the wait.
