The Cutaway Polo
The polo shirt hasn’t changed much in the last few cycles, so we were happy to see a new tweak coming to the surface this summer.
Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to acquaint yourselves with the cutaway polo.
In dress shirts, this kind of collar has gone the way of the power tie, but on a polo it can add a level of Old Hollywood breeziness to the whole endeavor.
The menswear crowd has been gushing over the Kent Wang version of late, and thanks to the double-layer construction and $65 price tag, it’s one of the better options out there. If you’re in the market for something a little more rough-and-tumble, this Ice Cream patch polo does a pretty good job of it.
On the avant garde end, there are more adventurous options like this or this, but we recommend staying only slightly outside the polo mainstream. To non-menswear nerds, these will just look like unusually rakish polos.
And they’re not wrong.
