Okay, we’ll admit it: we’ve been on a bit of an acetate-induced bender lately. But, hey, it’s beautiful out. And just when we thought we’d gotten over our rekindled UV-rated enthusiasm, these stunners popped into our mailbox.
Behold, this week’s sunglasses infatuation: Yankee Eyewear.
Naturally, they’re vintage. In fact, the acetate factory where they were made closed a few years ago —the last one in the US—so there won’t be any more coming down the pipeline any time soon. The frames themselves are a little rounder than the typical Wayfarer, done in either tortoise shell or sharp black. If we were rewriting our icon guide, we might put the second pair on Get Carter-era Michael Caine…assuming he was willing to emigrate.
The downside of all that deadstock: there really aren’t very many of them. If you want to get your hands on one, drop a line to email@example.com and they’ll set you up with a pair.
