Timepiece Tuesday: The Emmys of Watches
- Kempt Staff
The Emmys are this Sunday, and it’s one stylish lineup of nominees for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
So this Tuesday we thought we’d take a closer look at the watches worn by each of the characters they play...
Walter White, played by Bryan Cranston in Breaking Bad, is an interesting case: he begins the series with an expectedly nerdy calculator watch (shown here) but then upgrades to a bold, square-faced Tag Heuer Monaco, shown above (incidentally, a very nice birthday gift from his partner in crime).
Frank Underwood, played by Kevin Spacey in House of Cards, has the sort of high-pedigree watch you’d expect from a calculated political climber: an IWC Portuguese.
Don Draper, played by Jon Hamm in Mad Men, has been a real watch horse over the past six seasons—wearing a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso, a Memovox, then a Rolex Explorer, and in Season 7: an Omega Seamaster DeVille. Fifty years later and that reads like any budding watch collector’s dream list.
Will McAvoy, played by Jeff Daniels in The Newsroom, wears a Breguet Classique worthy of his marquee status.
Rust Cohle, played by Matthew McConaughey in True Detective, wears an old rubber-strapped dive watch from Seiko sub-brand Lorus. (Which he probably picked up around the same time as the Big Hug Mug.)
Martin Hart, played by Woody Harrelson in True Detective, wears an older model as well: a vintage Hamilton Jazzmaster with small seconds.
