Reentry: Jaguar the Hutt, Dying with Elvis and Cinderella's French Open

More questionable morals from the memorialized weekend...

SYRIA: SHAMED, FRIENDLESS AND DANGEROUS Syrian diplomats are being thrown out of just about every country except for Syria this morning in response to Friday’s massacre in which 108 civilians were savagely murdered by pro-government forces. Russia, the last remaining ally of President Bashar al-Assad, has also condemned the attacks—though the severity (and efficacy) of that condemnation remains uncertain.

THE KING’S CRYPT, GOING ONCE... Before Elvis landed permanently in Graceland, he was kept at a private crypt in the mausoleum of the Forest Hill Cemetery in Memphis. Like everything else the King touched, that crypt will now be put up for sale. “I just consider that if you’re an ultimate fan of Elvis Presley, it’s an opportunity,” president of Julien’s auctions, Darren Julien, told the New York Times. “It’s definitely a conversation piece. Only one person can say, ‘Hey, I’m going to be buried where Elvis Presley was.” And a fine conversation piece it is, indeed.

BRIAN BAKER, A CONNORS-LIKE UNDERDOG Don’t look now, but there’s an interesting story about an American tennis player. After nearly six years of hip surgeries and Tommy John procedures, Brian Baker, the 27-year-old former number one US tennis prospect, is back—and has won 15 straight, including a first-round victory Monday at Roland Garros.
