We have always regarded idiosyncratic impresario Andre 3000 (née Andre Benjamin) as one of the most stylish men in modern music. A fitting heir to Jimi Hendrix in many ways, it's felicitous that Benjamin (who has several acting credits to his name) has long had a Hendrix biopic in the works. Now he's branching out into fashion with his own line called Benjamin Bixby, inspired by 1930s football players.
At the GQ / CFDA *Best New Menswear Designers in America* bash the other night, Benjamin sported some of the first pieces from his Bixby collection debuting this fall; to wit, a green wool flannel postboy-style vest over a long-sleeved thermal cotton shirt and a pair of raw denim jeans. He rounded off the look with a vintage felt fedora and oxblood leather riding boots.
Note to alert readers: along with Alan Cumming, this makes the second MOTH in a week to sport an equestrian-esque ensemble complete with paddock boots; and Ralph Lauren wore 'em as well for his MOTH conquest a couple months back. Pay attention, people—this is how trends happen. Soon enough, you wake up one day to find you've blown $500 on inappropriate footwear.
