Five Names to Know This Fall

  • Caitlin Ganswindt

As you may (or may not) be aware—we’re in the thick of the menswear market here in NYC, with shows debuting the best of what this coming fall has in store.

We started the week off with Capsule, and while there’s a slew of fantastic happening, there are a few new kids on the block you’ll want to familiarize yourself with before September rolls back around:

0122KMT_CapsuleAW14_1 Museum: The resurrection of a 25-year-old Italian brand making 90/10 down-to-feather outwear, harvested from the Mulard ducks of France and inspired by North America.

0122KMT_CapsuleAW14_2 RainMan: Waterproof iterations of classic footwear silhouettes (oxfords, derbys, brogues and the like) out of Japan; they’re swapping out leather uppers for PVC and polyurethane without sacrificing style.

0122KMT_CapsuleAW14_3 Jean Machine: The definitive denim source of 1970s UK, relaunched in 2011 and slowly making its way stateside with a collection of Japanese denim and Portuguese knitwear. Think of them as A.P.C.’s understated English cousin.

0122KMT_Capsule_AW14_4 Chief Trunk: The 2014 revival of 1930s Oshkosh Trunk Company, drawing inspiration from their classic steamer trunks to create a bag for any/every travel occasion.

0122KMT_CapsuleAW14_5 Unknown Union: Menswear collective out of South Africa making goods from stuff like shweshwe blankets (which they required an actual king’s approval to use).
