Marc Jacobs’ ads have been eye-catching since the start, and we’re starting to get curious about the man behind the lens. For the curious, his name is Juergen Teller, seen in the picture above discussing aesthetics with the incomparable Charlotte Rampling.
As detailed in the recent NYT profile, Teller has been cutting a wide, strange-looking swath through the fashion world, with spots featuring Sofia Copolla’s wrist, a wigged Cindy Sherman or Victoria Beckham’s shins emerging unceremoniously from a Marc Jacobs shopping bag. He’s known for his low-key style, shooting with a single flash-mounted handheld camera, without the more elaborate setups of other photographers.
We’re still waiting for word on the fellow who shoots for Tom Ford.
