Savile Row is rightly known as the world center of tailoring, but too often the attention falls on the expert cuts—which you can get a good-enough approximation of in Hong Kong or New York—rather than the heirloom fabrics that usually don’t travel farther than one shop.

Luckily, the internet comes to us all. And apparently so does tweed.

Breanish Tweed, longtime tweed source for Anderson & Sheppard, is going freelance after a change in management. And more importantly, they’re opening their tweed up to public bidding, which means $37.50-a-yard (plus shipping) will get you as much cloth as you can handle. We recommend getting five yards and finding a good tailor—and we know a few.

(Thanks to A Suitable Wardrobe for the tip.)
