The Kempt Five
Every Wednesday from here on out, we’re giving you a piece of our minds. Actually, more like five pieces. It’s a chance to get a deeper look into what makes the minds behind Kempt tick—you know, beyond the usual Internet handsomeness we’re serving up daily. So welcome to our most personal weekly feature: The Kempt Five.
Without further ado, the Tumblrs, music and tuxedo slippers we’re digging this week.
A Tumblr That Gets It Right: “Without fail, Agnelli-esque delivers something to my laptop monitor that inspires me to dress a little sharper, take a bit more pride in the details and maybe go for a pattern I wouldn’t normally embrace. Sure, it’s very #menswear (soft-shouldered db blazers are a staple), but where else are you gonna find a picture of Jack Nicholson looking like he just stopped for a smoke at Pitti Uomo?” —P.L.U.
Ashley Monroe, “Weed Instead of Roses”: “I dabble in country. And I heard about this on NPR. But hear me out: this song is as sly and as fun as anything you’ll hear all summer (well, other than “Blurred Lines”). Oh, and Monroe’s in Jack White’s Third Man House Band, so there’s that. This song’s like some unholy mix of Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams Jr. and… I don’t know, Dr. Dre? Reefer not included…” —P.L.U.
A Trusty Baseball Cap: “I’m usually wearing one all weekend, whether I’m tending to our small patch of land or dragging myself to an early brunch. My waxed-cotton five-panel from Archival Clothing usually does the trick on all fronts—the thing can take a beating and still cleans up nice.” —N.B.
JP Crickets Dartmouth College Shoes at Brooks Brothers: “If I had the $328 to blow on slippers I’ll never wear, I’d buy them in a heartbeat. For now, though, I guess I’ll stick to Instagramming them while I shop the current sale.” —S.P.
Post-Work Kiddie Pool Beers: “For cooling purposes, natch. Not that I haven’t always wondered what it would feel like for my skin to melt off à la Raiders of the Lost Ark.” —S.P.
