The Kempt Five
Every Wednesday from here on out, we’re giving you a piece of our minds. Actually, more like five pieces. It’s a chance to get a deeper look into what makes the minds behind Kempt tick—you know, beyond the usual Internet handsomeness we’re serving up daily. So welcome to our most personal weekly feature: The Kempt Five.
Homemade Khaki Shorts: “A few years ago, Esquire noted that even Michael Bastian can’t afford Michael Bastian. Well, we hate to break it to you, but you know who else can’t afford Michael Bastian? Style blog contributors. But the next best thing: taking a pair of old chinos, cutting the legs off at the thigh (or better yet, having a tailor do it for a few bucks) and wearing the hell out of them all summer long. (Mr. Bastian, feel free to use this tip—though from the looks of it, maybe you already have.)” —P.L.U.
This Photo of Emily Ratajkowski (or however it’s spelled): “You know, in case you haven’t seen enough women near/wearing flags on Kempt lately…” —P.L.U.
A Dive Bar Jukebox: “I had an old friend visiting this weekend, and we were bouncing around town a bit when we found Speakeasy’s jukebox. A divey old-man bar, about 70 bucks and a jukebox = epic dance party. Something so satisfying about listening to Scissor Sisters in public.” —C.G.
The Newsroom: “Moneyball, The West Wing, The Social Network: Aaron Sorkin knows how to write himself a damn good drama. The Newsroom is no exception. All right, maybe it is mildly an exception. But regardless of what the critics (or my editor) might think, I’ve binge-finished the first season in the past three days and I’m not at all ashamed of that. Besides, I’ve learned a lot more about how the economy works in those seven background minutes of Olivia Munn rambling than I did during my entire college career. And I might be a little ashamed of that last bit, actually…” —S.P.
Three-Day Workweeks: “Really, this requires an explanation? Get your head out of your ass (or the office) and enjoy the days off. Nerd.” —S.P.
