The Kempt Five
Every Wednesday, we’re giving you a deeper look into what makes the minds behind Kempt tick. We call it: The Kempt Five.
Taran Killam as Jebidiah Atkinson. “Two bits of non-news you probably missed over the weekend: a Pennsylvania newspaper finally retracted an opinion piece from 1863 that panned Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg address the day after it was given. And SNL’s Taran Killam took to SNL’s Weekend Update as the scorned Civil War–era speech critic who still stands by his remarks 150 years later. Jeb then goes one further and begins critiquing some of history’s most famous speeches. It was easily the best bit of the episode—if not this year—and definitely a bright spot in SNL’s recent history. If this is the only bit you go out of your way to watch all season, it’s worth it.” —N.B.
Frank Muytjens’s New Instagram Feed. “Turns out, J.Crew’s chief menswear guy isn’t just a great designer, he’s got a pretty sharp eye for photography, too. If you like handsome book covers, handsome dogs and general handsome handsomeness, this is a must-follow.” —P.L.U.
Prince of Wales Check DB Blazer from AMI. “Here’s a thing I would like to have. Hey, Christmas is coming, right? …” —P.L.U.
This Volvo Commercial. “If, before I beheld this perfection, you had told me that Enya would provide the soundtrack for Jean-Claude Van Damme’s most compelling on-screen performance, I would have laughed in your face. Turns out, though, you would have been right.” —S.P.
Champagne Vending Machines. “They now exist. Kinda makes ya feel all warm and bubbly inside, don’t it?” —C.G.
